(a) must have passed in the first or second division, the intermediate or an equivalent Examination of a University or Board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.
All the aspirants who have registered for the examination must have prepared for the paper of Special Class Railway Apprentice.. The upper age limit is relaxable as upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a SC/ST; upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to OBC; upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 01st January 1981 to the 31st day of December, 1990; upto a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof; upto a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 01st January 2016 and have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year from 01st January 2016).

SCRA Examination consists of General Ability test, Physical Sciences and Mathematics paper for which the candidates will have to prepare at best of the levels.
Relaxation of 5 and 3 years would be given to SC/ST and OBC candidates respectively.
